Oh this has been a long time....

June 2017 Update
I don't know if anyone still follows this blog, but here is the latest about Isaac.
He has full functionality, neuro is quite good. The Ritalin used to help him focus also keeps him underweight, despite our (and his) best efforts.

His lingering symptoms are still a cognition to speech issue when choices must be made on topics unfamiliar to him. It presents heavily when there is more than two.
"Which drink do you want?"
"Which of the three pairs of shorts are too small?"
"Do you like lemon, strawberry, or chocolate better?"

Isaac has been a trumpeter in the middle school and high school band. He will be a Senior, graduating in 2018. He is an above average student, but like most TBI patients he is still "catching up" learning experiences that were lost in the connection reset. Our school district SpEd Director has a specialty in TBI research, and is very proactive to getting Isaac the continued support he needs.

Isaac is working out with the Marine recruits during their PT days near the High School. It was his decision, and we support him because conditioning can only help him at this time. The recruiter knows of his incident, and says nothing is set in stone with the Marine Corps. Dad and two brothers are former military, and we agree.

This was Isaac in a local performance of the marching band in 2015

Also, in 2014, we found a young lady who we seem to be very interested in, and vice versa. She is 2 years younger than him, and her parents are very happy with Isaac. Unlike most teens, they have been together for almost three years.

Isaac likes to run with us. He can do a 5K and 10K, and is now working on a 15K to run with us this winter in a race we like to do every year.

Here is the most recent picture of Isaac at the top of Sandia Peak. He loves the outdoors.
