This is exciting for Isaac, but mom and dad wonder what we are going to do. He has a room all to himself, but at home he shares a room with older brother. (grin)
The facilities for sleeping are great, and the people are awesome. They really seem to care about Isaac, and about our family.
Friday night we were provided with dinner; barbeque from Dickey's. We had visitors on Saturday. Two teammates came together with one family, and another with his family to see Isaac. The boys watched TV and "hung out" together. Isaac asked me at one point if he was still on his soccer team. I had to tell him yes, but we have to wait and see how well we will be able to participate in the future.
I asked Isaac if he was reading his book. He replied, "I looked at the cover!" I asked him to go get it, then had him read to me from the first page. He is slow, but he can read all the words. He had some trouble keeping his place, so we went back to finger reading, "just until it gets better."
Since the doctors said he may not be able to play sports, I want to give him every opportunity for the potential to play. We will do speed games on computer, on video games, then start working on basics in soccer to see if he can get better in the sport. Time will tell if he can actually be ready to play again someday, but it will be Isaac's recovery that will determine it. At the very least, we hope he will be able to referee. This was his latest goal before the accident.
Dad, Brea, and Jesse were there most of the afternoon, then had to go play indoor soccer.
They told us to try and make this as close to a normal thing as we can. We have even been told to leave for work as if we were leaving from home, that way the aide can get him used to how it will be at home.
Dad is off this week with Isaac, but mom is going to take the first morning shift so she can see how it works, and so she can guage her going to work from the apartment. They have said one to two months, so we are expecting about a month at the apartment before transitioning him back to the house.
Dad and Jesse, however, are going to work on the house and the room this week while dad is off to try and get it ready. (And to hopefully make Jesse more comfortable to be able to sleep in the room again) We are painting, staining, moving/removing/adding furniture, cleaning, and changing the closet situation so that the room will be as different as possible when Isaac returns.
